February Happenings in Cumberland
Cumberland, WI is a vibrant area with plenty of local attractions and interest, but it also has a regular schedule of community events for its residents.

February 7th– Diabetes Self-Management Class
In conjunction with Turtle Lake and Cumberland, Cumberland Healthcare is hosting the Diabetes Self-Management Class Series to help empower diabetes sufferers to take control of their own health. This class series will provide education on blood sugar management through nutrition, exercise and self-monitoring, in hopes of preventing future complications and long-term health effects for diabetes sufferers.
This class is a four-week series and will take place at the Cumberland Clinic at 1110 Seventh Avenue, Cumberland, WI from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. It starts on February 7th, 2018 and continues through February 28th, 2018.
February 8th-Women’s Health Night
Cumberland Healthcare is also hosting a Women’s Health Night, which will include several seminars to educate women on their health concerns.

- “What’s New for Women’s Healthcare”-Presented by Mary Beth Waldo, DNP
- “Dry Needling”-Ashley Knutson, DPT
- “Colon Cancer, Are You At Risk”-Emily Westphal, RN
This event runs from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Das Lach Haus in Cumberland. 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM is a social hour, dinner will be served from 5:30 PM to 6:15 PM, with the presentations to follow from 6:15 PM to 7:30 PM. There will also be free chair massages from Magic Touch Massage, free blood pressure screenings, and many fabulous door prizes!
Tickets to this event are $10 in advance, $15 at the door, and can be purchased from the Cumberland Healthcare Hospital front desk, located at 1110 Seventh Avenue, Cumberland.

February 10th-35th Annual Wisconsin State Ice Fishing Tournament
For the adventurous, the Cumberland Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 35th annual Wisconsin state ice fishing tournament at Beaver Dam Lake in Cumberland, WI, from 10 AM to 3 PM on Saturday, February 10th.
The grand prize for this tournament is a side-by-side ATV, and 15 additional fishing prizes will be awarded in several categories, including $1000 to the biggest catch! There will also be plenty of razzle prizes.
Registration and food is location at Cumberland city beach and tourist park. Advanced tickets are $12 or 3 for $30, and $20 the day of. Tickets can be purchased from Re/Max in Cumberland.
March 2nd-Progressive Dinner with a Purpose
Cumberland Healthcare is hosting the Foundation’s 5th Annual Progressive Dinner “With a Purpose” to raise funds for the Bio fire equipment used in the Laboratory Department. This facility is used to diagnose disease faster and more accurately, and Bio fire is a new technology that identifies bacteria, viruses or other organisms that are causing an illness within one hour of lab time. This technology can significantly reduce the length of the hospital stay and get the patient treated much sooner.
To show your support for this cause, you can purchase tickets from the Cumberland Healthcare Hospital front desk at 1110 Seventh Avenue, Cumberland. The tickets are $60 per person and $120 per couple and include appetizers, dinner, dessert and games.
